Born once die twice. Born twice die once.
Confusing? Inconceivable? Yet Christ said, “Ye must be born again”
(John 3:7). When an individual accepts Christ and is converted, the
old man dies. His sins are forgiven and “he is a new creature:
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Cor.
5:17). Baptism symbolizes the burial of the old sinful man who “walked
according to the course of this world” (Eph. 2:2) and the rebirth of a
new creature in Christ. So important is baptism, that it is mentioned
more often that the cross.
